On July 18, 2007, "The Mt. Horeb Free Will Baptist Church Family" under the leadership of Rev. Thomas B.White, Pastor, suffered a great loss when the Lord called our beloved and long time Deacon Douglas M. Dunn, to his eternal home. Deacon Dunn served as a soldier in God's Army for many years and was a faithful member of Mt. Horeb where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and Superintendant of Sunday School since 1982. He leaves to cherish his memories: His Mt. Horeb Church Family, His Beloved Wife, (1) Daughter, (6) Grandchildren, (1) Brother and a host of Nieces, Nephews and Friends.

Is commitment for Teens?

In this day and time commitment in relationships is very rare among adults and least likely in teens. My advice to teens, especially girls, have fun and not place your hopes and dreams in someone else. You will be setting yourself up for a fall. True enough it is a fall that you will survive; but a fall that will effect every relationship in your adult life. It's easier to have fun and learn about yourself. Men and women are teaching our youth about deception in relationships that spill over into not just their teenage years but also into their adult lives. Our youth is the time we set goals such as college, careers and destinations that we would like to explore. Believe me love is something rare and it will come when the time is right.

What Teenage Girls Really Want?

Being a mother of two daughters and once upon a time a teenager myself; I can honestly say that this is a question that teenage girls themselves cannot honestly answer. Life drastically changes for girls after the age of 13. For some reason after this age every little thing matters. For instance it doesn't matter at the age of twelve if she doesn't have breast or if a boy likes her. All I know is at the age of 13 I became angry at the world. Eve, was on my wanted list and I blamed Adam for being so weak. I went from being carefree 12 to dealing with Tampax, Kotex, etc. drama. I went from being one of the boys playing ball to the boys excluding me from all things fun and it not only hurt; but it pissed me off. Once hips and breasts began to appear so did every dirty old man. The look in your dad's eyes changes from loving to leery. Your mom's freak basically out. They go from being fun-loving casual mom to some crazed eyes, I want to know your every move and hear your every phone conversation monster. This is so much to deal with in a moments notice because if you look at it...one day you are 12 and the next you turn 13 every thing changes. The carefree world you once knew becomes full of precautions. You can no longer sit on your father's lap without everyone thinking it's in appropriate, or just hang out with actual guys without the risk of being called a lesbian or a slut and let's not forget the major precaution (SEX). With this one everything goes crazy such as (1) Pregnancy (2) Sexually Transmitted Diseases (3) Tarnished reputation for life and (4) Disgusting men. Wake up world young women have plenty to be angry about and it's only when we are near forty or at forty that we work it out. So when you are asking this question don't expect your daughter or her friend girls to give you a clear answer; because we are asking the same thing of you and this world : "WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM US"!!!! As a parent my best advice is too give them room to grow, let them know that your love has not changed and be there as much as they will allow you.
